James Dabill wins Super Trial
12/08/2009
James Dabill won the superb ‘Super Trial’ organized by Stuy Robinson and the North Berks Club @ the popular ‘Seymours Arena’ near Didcot.
This fantastic event is now a solid ‘big event’ in the Trials Calendar and is growing each year. This year Dibs won the event from his pal Michael Brown.
The format of the event is simple. There are two laps of a seven section course for all the riders and the Top 4 riders go through to the Final.
Browny won the heats with Dibs second, Alexz third and Loris Gubian (riding Dibs’ spare bike) was 4th… I must thank Stuart for organizing and making the trip possible for Loris who rode well and enjoyed the event.
Team JST GG Teamsters Sam Haslam and Ross Danby were 5th and 6th and unfortunately missed out on the final this year but nevertheless rode well and put on a good show. Craig Robinson rode in pain with a recent back injury.
After the heats the final became serious for the top 4 riders because some good prize money (and pride) was at stake.
All the sections were made harder for the final and Loris rode them first in front of Alexz, Dibs and then finally Michael. They all fived the end step on section 4 and only dibs cleaned section 5 with the massive end step which he cleaned with ease. A calculated one dab ride for dibs on the logs of 6 (pune was good here) kept him in the lead going to the Red Bull section where they all fived. Dibs lined himself up for the end step and totally missed it with his front wheel which frustrated him. He had another go for the crowd and cleaned with ease.
So with one section to go Dibs had a 4 mark lead so a ‘three’ mark ride was enough for the win. This final section was long and technical and Dibs’ used his head and wasted no time and got the three he needed for win! Dibs really made me panic when he got some ‘massive air’ on the middle step caught on camera by Ian Cross….awesome pic! (see below)
Thanks to Jack and Factory Kev..
So Dibs has won again before his weekend off this coming weekend before he goes away for a 5 week stint….
Two events in France, then to the last two WTCs in Spain and France, then to the TDN in Italy.
